The Wisconsin Badgers have received an oral commitment from the one of the best high school kickers in the nation.
According to the Wisconsin State Journal , Kyle French, of Menominee Fall, Wis., committed to the Badgers Monday.
French is rated as the 14th-best kicker in the nation by Scout.com and received considerable interest from other college programs, including Northern Illinois and Wyoming, before committing to the Badgers.
This signing could put a little pressure on Wisconsin’s current kicker, Philip Welch, to perform better. Welch, a sophomore, has struggled this season, having made only 8-of-14 attempts.
Wisconsin’s other kicker, freshman Alec Lerner, is red-shirting this year.
French has made 9-of-12 attempts for Menominee Falls, with his longest make being from 44 yards. His range is currently estimated at 53 yards.
He is also averaging 63 yards on kickoffs.
