(BadgerChatters Newswire) – Brendan Smith finished off a big weekend Saturday, scoring three points as Wisconsin beat Michigan Tech 6-0 for their second straight six-goal win over the Huskies in their Western Collegiate Hockey League matchup.
Smith netted two power-play goals and an assist and John Mitchell added two more power-play goals for the Badgers. Smith finished the weekend with seven points for the Badgers (10-5-1, 7-4-1 WCHA).
Friday Blake Geoffrion scored three power-play goals and Smith had four assists Friday as Wisconsin rolled to an 8-2 Western Collegiate Hockey Association win over Michigan Tech.
Geoffrion ran his season goal total to 12. The Badgers (9-5-1, 6-4-1) outshot the Huskies 46-22.
Wisconsin led 4-1 after one period, getting two goals by Geoffrion and one each from Patrick Johnson and Ryan McDonagh.
Derek Lee, Ben Street and Andy Bohmbach also scored for the Badgers against Michigan Tech goalies Josh Robinson (10 saves) and Kevin Genoe (28 saves).
Brett Bennett stopped 20 shots by the Huskies (3-10-0, 2-9-0).
Michigan Tech got goals by John Kivisto and Brett Olson.
The Wisconsin womens’s hockey team beat Minnesota-Duluth on Friday 3-1. The Badger women outshot the Bulldogs 43-14. Saige Pacholok, Geena Prough and Carolyne Prevost had the goals for Wisconsin.
